In Response To: Worst bet I ever lost (Joe Russell)

I remember making a bet with you back in '89 where I pressed on the final (I had Mike Carson over Mike Corbett) instead of hedging. Not sure what I was thinking (or if I was thinking).

While we are on the subject of wording, there was a bet made back in the late nineties involving a bot. I think the stake was $50, and maybe five games into the hundred-game contract the human built an outer board prime and over the next few turns he and the bot got the cube up to 128 (the max). The guy backing the bot wanted to call a halt and settle. Things turned rancorous.

While I don't think it needs stipulating, ever since I have advised people that if they enter into a contract to play n-games it should be made clear that the loser ALWAYS has the right to quit. The contract to play a set number of games is for the losing side's protection.
