I was about to ask how it's determined whether a player is displayed on top or bottom. My trial-and-error indicates that when you haven't created a profile, XG places the player in the left-hand column of the .mat file on bottom, whereas GNU places the player in the right-hand column on bottom. Good to know that XG can correct this automatically.
As far as the date, time and other headers go, my tool has access to most of that information as is, so I will work on adding it to the .mat files. By way of technical background, I'm using Websockets to pull down the game data from Ace's servers in the exact same way that the history page on Ace's website does (e.g., http://backgammon.heroz.jp/games/users_game?name=bgmochy). Thus, any metadata that is included in the output of Ace's Websockets service can be included in the .mat transcript files.
Terje, if the game result is included in an appropriate header, would that ensure that Backgammon Studio detects the winner correctly?
Downloading the games in bulk in a .zip file is a good idea - I've got that on my list too.
I see the issue with long usernames as well. Since .mat files are a fixed-width ASCII format, I'm not sure how to address that. If I use XG to create a transcription with two extremely long usernames, export it to a .mat file and re-import it, the usernames do get cut off. If anyone has any information on possible workarounds, I'd appreciate it.
