I think the answer to all your questions depends on the degree of the disability and the skill level of the player. YanKit Chan doesn't need any help from anyone except to know what the dice say and how the opponent has moved.

A beginner or intermediate might need a lot more help. I think this should all be left up to the tournament director to decide just how much help, and when, a disabled person should get. It's kind of silly to set absolutely firm parameters here for unusual situations like this. YanKit is not my only blind student...I have had 3 others, and they all needed a lot more assistance than YanKit.

I am working with two groups of disabled people and depending on the disability, very little to lots of help is needed. Aren't we all disabled to some extent?
