We're now into day 2 of the UK Open... and having started with a round of 128 and a long schedule for the fighters in particular - leading to quite a bit of late night play - we're down to the last 8.
Undefeated: Tim Line v Dave Pritchard, Alex Hodge v Robin Swaffield. Fighters: Andreas Olsen v James Newman, Yan Kit Chan v Paul Plumptre
The best matches in each round have been live streamed, with the lucky few playing in the spotlight on a specially provided Geoffrey Parker board. The British Backgammon Awards were presented before the start of play; with a large number of nominees who have all made a real difference to the game, our members voted for:
Most Courteous Player: Sue Keeble Board Designer of the Year: Geoffrey Parker International Player of the Year: Mochy British Player of the Year: Eric McAlpine Tournament Director of the Year: Rick Janowski Most Significant Contribution: Peter Bennet
There's been a host of other games going on, with the opening warm-up and Super Jackpot, Speedgammon, consulting doubles, 1-pointer jackpots, social swiss and the Arena Cup - you can follow all the brackets live at http://challonge.com/users/raj1809?page=2 and the final results will also be on our blog: ukbgf.com
