I would apply the hints given by Francois Tardieu in one of his on-line articles. Those hints, however, are optimized for DMP-matches. Nevertheless, in many cases I have made good experiences with them in unlimited games as well.

Blue has less than 5 checkers off. For this reason, he is supposed to be careful about volunteering additional hits. 6/0 4/0 leaves 13 hits, whereas 6/0 6/2 only leaves 11 hits. Maybe a shot in the dark, but I'd play 6/0 6/2 over the board. If White doesn't hit, Blue has 23 brilliant rolls (no hit & brilliant roll ~44%). These rolls cover the blot on the 2-point, and don't produce another blot. If White doesn't hit, and Blue has an unpleasant roll, White will still be reliant on a hit in the next but one roll (~31%). So, White remains the clear underdog.
