One 3 would have been enough. :)

Could avoiding hits be enough here? 24/21*, 4/1(2), 8/5? If you refuse to ever put a 3rd checker on the acepoint (when there is still significant contact) then you can't make this play, but sometimes you have to open your mind. Playing with 14 checkers (or 12 by some people's count) can win, particularly with cube access.
