That's an interesting way to think about it. Now, the top play remains the top play even if the cube were turned. Would you have still used the same reasoning in that case? That is, with the cube turned, would you have used your intuition about what sort of positions are close to the take/pass borderline to conclude that the (normalized) equity of 24/21(2) 6/3(2) must be close to 0.5 while the others wouldn't be?

That's the kind of reasoning that I've idly thought about using more often, but that I don't really use in practice.
