Deep defense

I would have played 23/17 OTB as well, but the problem is that we only can maintain our position if we can spring our spares on the 23. After 23/17 it is easy to send the escapee back and make the bar, and to slot the 8, making it difficult for us to escape the spares, while if we do, our timing gets destroyed. So I understand the problem with 23/17. I also understand the QF, so that we are supposed to look for something else.

24/18* is a very drastic way to solve this problem (but maybe I am guilty of trying to hang on to something, the deep backgame, that is not worth hanging on to); I might QF-try 13/7* which also tries to go forward and duplicates 3s and 4s.
