Prioritizing Position Study?

I am finding the act of studying positions to be as beneficial or more beneficial than memorization of the positions.
Based on my own play, I think most of us should be able to play around a PR of 6 by removing gross errors in play.
The practice of studying positions should enforce better OTB habits and fill in gaps in play.
I find that playing the bot definitely tightens up my game but without ongoing study I don't tend to improve any further. Essentially I reach a local optima that requires a fundamental change to improve.
My initial question was intended to ask how to best select positions for study amongst the huge number of interesting positions in order to optimize improvement in PR. Simply reviewing errors in play seems to be good for a couple of tenths a month right now but I would really like to see significant and consistent improvement in game play at least until I get my PR closer to 5.
Currently sitting in the mid 7's avg.
