You've already received a lot of good specific as it can be advice. It's near impossible to answer the question you're asking though given the amount of information we've been provided. It could be one thing, it could be the complete opposite or other thing, or it could be this third thing. It's near impossible to tell.

You said your level is casual/intermediate and if that's the case there are probably multiple issues at hand causing you to end games in that fashion at such a high rate. I have no idea what the rate of crunched board losses should be but I'd estimate under 5%.

I can answer 1 question for you with certainty and that is yes, avoid backgames at almost all cost.
