I'm reluctant to expand on my previous experience because I feel it would be immodest to do so. Perhaps that statement is immodest, in fact.

My comments were not aimed at you, but rather, were aimed at reassuring others who might be interested in participating. Interestingly enough, a little controversy is a good thing. It captures people's attention, and generates a little curiosity. Robert might find himself overwhelmed with the amount of interest generated by this discussion.

It's possible that an offshoot group will form which will cater more to your interest. Various groups do not need to be in competition with each other, but instead can augment and support each other by bringing people together. It's a great addition to our backgammon community.

There is lots to be gained if multiple groups do form. Some people might join every group available. Essentially, we're all friends. I encourage you to continue towards your goal, and I hope I will be welcome to join your group also. Think about it. How many backgammon groups are there in Japan or Denmark? There is a new group forming in Scotland now. We wish them all well, and are ready to encourage any additional groups that might develop in the future.

You can quote me on this, but really should not, because I plagiarized it......

"We choose to play backgammon. We choose to play backgammon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to do."

Enjoy and have fun, everyone.
