The same duplications apply to both the original position and variant (not that Mary said otherwise).

My idea in creating the variant was to illustrate what happens when we make Blue a bigger favorite in the priming battle (that will most likely follow if White fails to roll a 5, or perhaps if she rolls a 5 and gets hit back).

It is possible to demonstrate the concept just by moving one of White's 8pt checkers to her 6pt -- see rollout below, but it is somewhat less elegant. :)
