Agreed. I will, however, offer some observations.

Compared to the UK, you guys certainly don't mess about when it comes to sentencing.

And you're up front about it, like stating '4-7(years)'. Conversely, we say '7 years', whereas they could well be out in 2 years 4 months.

Finally, however excessive a sentence might (rightly or wrongly) seem to some people, it's nearly always preferable to the convict than...
