It's strange to me that clock required at these tournaments isn't simply mandated.

Scheduling without the clock is a nightmare. Players abuse matches without a clock and grind tournaments to a stand still. Clock optional is a handicap for a good tournament player. Their opponents will simply bore them to death by dragging matches out to obscene lengths where concentration and motivation simply die.

Time management should be a required skill in tournament play. If a player plays unreasonably slowly and take 10 bathroom breaks in money play at least you can just get up and walk out but in match play you are trapped.

Clock mandatory... Breaks limited to a fixed amount of time otherwise on the clock and be done with it.

Ulike Phil I think even novices should be introduced to the clock so all the whining from people who like playing 4+ hour 15 pointers can be weeded out at an early age.
