Perhaps it would have been nice to have consulted with the pair of you first, before imposing the clock, but I can understand why staff did impose one at that point. If I'd been involved in a match that had taken 3 hours to get to 11-6, and that was still 6a 11a, I might have anticipated a clock coming, even in a final.

The stakes played for argued for the clock, not against it; for one thing, I don't doubt that staff anticipated things slowing down further as the match reached its denouement, and wanted to avoid a possible extreme scenario involving more long, complex games and maybe DMP.

With Clock Option it would be nice if players were given the chance to opt to use one with more generous TC, like 15/2 or 12/2.5. Conversely, if one was imposed by staff during the match then the standard 12/2 would apply. The less generous TC would be justified, as the match was already well behind schedule and needed expediting. With Clock Option this would effect a 'stick and carrot' approach.
