I guess the amount of time before closing the voting will depend upon advertising/publicity. You say you are going to try to get some other sites to help so it would likely depend upon when those sites call attention to your survey. If it were just this site then a week would probably be enough, but the activity here is pretty brisk (typical of hard-core interest) so other sites might require more. However, one would think that the most reliable results would come from voting by players who are familiar with clock usage, and those would tend to be more serious players. So holding it open for the occasional player would at best not get more votes and at worst tally uneducated votes. We all know that is too prevalent in more important issues in this day-and-age. :(

I never doubted that you were wanting an unbiased view but intent isn't always sufficient, and further, I'm more trusting than typical. :)

Regarding bias, do you have a way of preventing "stuffing the ballot box"? (By that I mean one person being able to vote multiple times.)
