Nicholas Sargent aka Nissim Segaloff

Nicholas Sargent was a championship backgammon player in the early 1960s and possibly for years before. I am interested in finding out more about the man and his backgammon history. Nicholas was born Nissim Segaloff in Bulgaria in 1896. In 1940, he lived in Paris and left as a refugee escaping the Nazi Holocaust through Russia and Japan to New York City. In 1956, he legally changed his name to Nicholas Sargent.

I know he lived in New York City from 1941 through 1956, but lose track of him there. I am studying Holocaust survivors who escaped through Japan.

Any information or contacts to people who might have known him or about him would be greatly appreciated.
