Hi Keene,

:> You should be playing 23/18*,11/10,
:> IMO. I think that should have tagged as an error on XG

Yes you are right.. 23/18*/17 is a slight error (-0.011, not rolled out).

However, Gnu actually did already recognise it as the 2nd best move, behind 23/18* 11/10

==============================================================================

1. Cubeful 2-ply 23/18* 11/10 Eq.: +0.961

77.7 56.1 3.1 - 22.3 5.0 0.2

2-ply cubeful prune [world class]

2. Cubeful 2-ply 23/18*/17 Eq.: +0.950 ( -0.011)

77.9 54.2 2.9 - 22.1 4.8 0.2

2-ply cubeful prune [world class]

This particular laptop is not the fastest anymore (Core 2 Duo / 2.6Ghz / T6500) so I run my general analysis at 'Supremo' level as deeper scans take too long for me.

I feel that the Supremo setting is close enough for my non-expert level of play and the two preset analysis levels above this (Grandmaster and 4 ply) give diminishing returns for the additional time taken. (Interesting that Gnu mentions only 'world class' when I copied the move text from the analysis box though (above).. not sure why)

The reason it wasn't flagged even as 'doubtful' is that I am using the default Gnu settings for error thresholds:

Doubtful > -0.04 Bad > -0.08 Very Bad > -0.16

and of course, -0.011 is a smaller error than -0.4

Out of interest, what are the default thresholds for flagging these strata of errors in XG?

my gnubg analysis and error threshold settings
