BMAB INDIVIDUAL APPLICATIONS REPORT, December 2015

The recent PR and Gradings Report for the first Backgammon Masters Series detailed how Neil Kazaross and David Presser had achieved the Grandmaster grades of Class 2 and Class 3 respectively by virtue of superb performances on the ABT (American Backgammon Tour) and the BMS tournament. I am also pleased to report other excellent recent achievements as detailed below:

Yoshiyuki Nakamura of Japan, one of the first members of the Mochy 4 Club, the main precursor to BMAB, has now extended his experience beyond the threshold level required for Grandmaster (Class 2) and has achieved this title with an astonishing overall aggregate PR of 3.05! Congratulations to Yoshi for this superb achievement.

Malcolm Davis universally acknowledged as one of Backgammon’s great players and ambassadors, recently decided to register with BMAB and to submit his streamed clocked matches for rating purposes. I am pleased to report that Malcolm has achieved the title of Master (Class 1), the level just below Grandmaster, as a first stepping stone in the BMAB stream. Congratulations to Malcolm.

Jason Pack of the USA, by virtue of his performances on the ABT and the second BMS (UK) tournament earlier this year, achieves the title of Master (Class 3). Well done Jason!

Elsewhere, Victor Ashkenazi (USA) and Amir Eshraghi (Iran) improve their overall aggregate PRs to 3.18 and 4.06 respectively, pushing closer to achieving upgraded titles. Steve Sax (USA) has also had a collection of astonishing performances at recent ABT tournaments which indicate that he will achieve a very well earned upgrade to Grandmaster (Class 2). However, BMAB is not able to confirm this result yet until full documentary information is received, but this should be a routine matter. Kit Woolsey is also undertaking an individual application but is currently below the 100 experience points threshold required to enter the PR and Gradings database.

It’s great to see Backgammon’s Cream naturally rising through the ranks and lists of BMAB.
