If you don't split now, it's likely to turn into and ace-point vs bar-point holding game with little prospects to win since blue will usually be forced to abandon the midpoint before white has to break her anchor. And doubles for white is basically game-over.

But the split is risky - white has eleven in the zone and blue will be indangerof being blitzed off he board.

Is cube ownership important here? With the cube centered, blue gets cubed out a lot after the split, but without cube access that's not a factor.

I'll split since I hate sitting on the ace point waiting patiently to lose, but without much conviction. 8/4 seems to be the obvious four.
