Albert,
I agree completely with everything you've said!
I'd been eating at the hotel (not all meals) for 3 days and had no idea that there was a 25% discount for BG players until I overheard someone mention it. A big positive is the hotel and considering where we were staying the rate was great and the discount made meals not overly pricey. A big thanx to Lynn for arranging a great hotel deal.
The experiment with having people sign up for the LC seems to have been a failure to put it politely.
Once again, so much pain caused by the LC and specifically the fresh draw LC.
Several of the Giants playing in the team consultation had conflicts with their LC matches. Mochy and I didn't since we finished 3rd/4th in the main. A progressive LC would likely have resulted in the majority of those players being knocked out of the LC earlier and having no conflict.
A major area of concern is the side pools. In the Champ event there were 33 players in the SP and it was winner take all (all SP were winner take all from what I saw)! This seems to potentially really top load the prize pool. This wasn't an issue this time since Mochy and I by finishing 3/4 split the side pool.
I remain adamant that any Side Pool with that many entrants needs to be split as least 2 ways. Please use a 2/1 payout ratio for 2 players rather than winner take all.
Lets see what could've happened with the SP and prize payouts. (Rounded)
1st place payed 8, 2nd 4, 3rd/4th 2. The SP was 6. So lets say that the two finalists were in the SP (they weren't). Then they'd be playing for 14 to win and 4 to lose!!
What's the problem they can always hedge many players/directors think. The problem is that some players won't hedge and some basically cannot as they have arrangements with backers who may not even be at the event. Can you really expect a top giant to make a hedge without getting some vig from a typical lessor player in the finals? This leads to many issues.
But if the SP is properly split 4 and 2, then the finals is played for 12 and 6 and that is fair since winning the event gets twice as much as 2nd place.
I feel that any SP with 10 or more players probably should be split 2/1 paying two places and certainly any SP with 15 or more should be split.
One hopes that if the high roller and team events are run next year, there will be fewer conflicts and better planning to avoid those conflicts. Once again, a progressive LC would help.
Thx for your consideration .. neilkaz ..
