CMC, I was talking on the phone tonight to a good friend of mine (who is actually also a good backgammon player) who is one of the most renowned PGA caddies of all time, Andrew Martinez. He caddied for Johnny Miller in his heyday, Peter Jacobsen for a good while, and Tom Lehman for twenty years or so. He is now caddying for a good young player named Zac Blair.

Anyway, his take on the subject question was interesting. I posed the question to him just as it was asked here without any personal comment from me until after he replied. He predicted seven minimum and eleven on the high side. Obviously, he really appreciates the talents of all three. He thinks Spieth has the best attitude of anyone on the tour and that McIlroy and Day are among the most talented. In some pool among the caddies at the beginning of last year he predicted Spieth would win the Masters and the U. S. Open and that Rory would win the Open -- which he feels he would have done so with ease had he not been hurt. He thinks Augusta just sets up perfectly for Spieth's game. He also felt that Spieth's caddy was the most knowledgeable guy on the tour regarding last year's U. S. Open course so that is why he gave the nod to Spieth going into that tourney.

Great guy to talk to about golf. He has seen and done it all right there on the stage with all of the greats.
