Obviously 3/0ff is correct with the three. How to play the ace? If Blue owns the cube or the cube is centred, I think 4/3 is superior to 2/1 because it will usually lead to efficient doubles when two men are borne off next turn. Having two men on the deuce point often leads to two men on the 2-point (72%) and a men on the 2 and 3 points (69%). In comparison, after the 2/1 play, bearing two men off next roll normally leads to major market loss.
Where the cube is owned by the opponent the correct play isn't abundantly clear because both plays seem to distribute the checkers smoothly. I prefer 2/1 though because when two checkers are borne off next turn it gives a higher average probability than the alternative play. Note that now it is crucial to take two checkers off next turn as otherwise the opponent will claim the game with cube.
For DMP and cubeless games, I think playing 2/1 is also correct mostly because of the high probabilities reached after bearing off two checkers next turn.
