OT: A computer beats a GO champion

It's hard to draw analogies with backgammon because the games are so different.

A slightly better analogy is to imagine a computer soundly defeating the African chess champion, who is a grandmaster but rated about 200 Elo below the world champion.

Reading more of the press releases, I see that there is a match scheduled in March with Lee Sedol. If the computer wins that match then that will be really impressive.
