I think "A" should sensibly prefer to just go with the flow rather than get embroiled in a near-pointless argument which is likely to prove much more distracting and disruptive to "B" in his/her match equity musing or similar.

I can't get on board with that.

Here's another reason why B needs to wait to pick up the dice. If I am Player A, I need to be given the opportunity to verify the legality of B's checker play. If B can move, snatch up the dice and roll again, A has been denied that opportunity, and the evidence has been destroyed.
