In the short run the best measure of backgammon skill is conventional EMG PR. In the long run the best measure of skill is match winning percentage.

In the middle you have things like MWC lost per roll and other metrics. I am not sure if there is any practical value to these metrics since they are neither the best measure of skill nor converge the fastest, and conventional EMG PR already takes a fairly long amount of time to converge. It could possibly have some practical value as a "better" measure of skill than PR if you already had a significant number of matches. I am not really sure what that value would be, though.
