PR or Luck? (Time management)

If you lost such a match 11-10, then reversing the result of the first game which you lost means you would have won instead. I am having trouble seeing what is illogical about that.

Before trying to explain more could I get what you think about the following situation:

Suppose that we play a contest of flipping a fair coin until one of us has 11 wins. Heads is a point for me and tails is a point for you. I get an advantage though in that for one of the tosses I can claim a win without the coin being flipped. If I choose to claim my free point at the very start do you think I have made error since I should save it for when there is more match equity at stake?
