Chouette - A few history notes

Chouette has two meanings in French. It means cool (as in, let's go to the cinema? ouais, chouette!) and it refers to a class of owls (not owls in general, they are small owls and can turn their heads some 270°). I've read somewhere that chouettes are known to attack their prey in groups and in a vicious way which made that second meaning look like team vs captain and team vs box shout-outs. Makes perfect sense to me.
I live in bilingual Belgium and most players here refer to a chouette as "shoe-et" as do the English native speakers. But for sure, the word for cool is pronounced as "shwet" - a single syllable word.
