Is there a future for the Giants List?

Rear case when I disagree with my friend Petko. I think Giants list is good for backgammon. It brings interest and controversy. Other ratings are still in development state: 1) BMS don't have many matches and few players participate at this time 2) Larsen-Stillman don't take US Masters and international torunaments into account 3) I know people are working on ELO type of rating. It obviously needs time. With the development and wide acceptance of these ratings, retiring of Giants list will be feasable. At this time, it will do no good to the game IMHO. It's far from being perfect, and not ideal representation of players strength. And it is a popularity contest, especially on top. But it has value for backgammon as a game. And provides motivation for many players around the world to get better and gain recognition. And probably as good (and better) as any other existing rating at the moment.
