Great post and well said. Some comments:
1. In the not-to-distant future i believe every major tournament match will be recorded and analyzed and we will be able to have a reasonably-accurate PR-based rating of all serious players. I am sure this will be posted and updated regularly and the whole world will know how anyone plays relative to PR. Clearly people willbe influenced by this, and tournament results, in ant Giant voting.
2. I believe this information will, in time, prove your premise that winning is more directly correllated tolow PR as opposed to "gaming" your opponent. Virtually all of those concepts apply when playing lower level players and in money situations where players might clearly be afraid of some cubes or might be steamers. But those strategies are doomed to fail at the "giant level of play" where your opponent is a -4 PR player or even a -6 PR player. Seeing a player with a poor PR winning a high percentage of matches against open players will be rare and will usually be supported by XG showing that player was exceptionally lucky. (Also, i would be inclined to look closely at his dice and make sure there were no magnets in the board!).
3. The fact that poker doesnt have a giants list is their loss. It would be really cool to see how top players and experts rate the top players. Yes there will be flaws and favortism and all the things we complain about in BG, but it would still be fun to see
