Yes, the distinction between the average number of rolls and the number of rolls to become a favorite comes up elsewhere too.

Suppose you need to leap a five-prime but you're not at the edge. What I've seen often cited is the average number of rolls needed to do this. But IMO it's more relevant to know how many spare pips you need before you're a favorite to leap the prime before using up your spare pips.
