On the Alien it shows:

CPU Speed 1.60 GHz(x8) Evaluation Speed 1,852,105 pos/s

The CPU speed is deceptive because it is a turbo, so it goes into overdrive when hard at work. That's also true of the ThinkPad, which lists at 2.90 GHz, but turbos to 3.8.

On the ThinkPad:

CPU Speed 2.90(x8) Evaluation Speed 5,474,314 pos/s

Only three times as fast here. As mentioned, it isn't built for XG, it is built for running regressions on extremely large datasets, where memory matters a lot.
