I doubt I am, but I'll try anyway. The QF is tricky, as it will skew some plays.
However, 24/18 to me is clear. Its an elimination & focus play for me. By eliminating all the plays that arent that (or reasonable in approximation of style and technique), then it must be that one.
Any play that splits the back and brings one down adds the long range risk of a hit / cube, and puts a single checker under the gun, and subject to a whole lot of joker numbers.
Any 2 down play allows white to play passively (making points / hitting / cleaning up), resulting most likely in a cube next time, and a strong position for white.
Any homeboard interior play, or combination thereof is a weakening of your structure, and does not do anything positive to your position. It will likely result in a cube for white immediately. Do not weaken your homeboard.
Lastly, running to the bar point with a single checker keeps the focus on the wrong point (bar point) rather than the 5pt, threatens to make a holding point, and keeps white from being proactive, and will not get you cubed, as the response plays (aside from hit/dance) all allow you to become immediately more flexible.
So, bar/18. Keeping the focus right, and not allowing white free reign to start boxing you in, and of course, not getting you cubed in most scenarios.
