If it can be demonstrated the VR adjusted Elo-based rating or VR adjusted normalised win-rate methodologies are able, in practical terms, to provide a viable alternative to purely PR-based criteria, then BMAB would be in running such systems concurrently.
However, our investigations into the practical use of these methods haven't demonstrated their viability. This may be related to the way XG measure luck, which I believe is relatively crude. If more refined and improved analytical tools become available then BMAB would certainly reconsider the practical viability of VR methodologies.
