White is The Dilly Builders

score: 10
pip: 151
11 point match
Crawford
pip: 191
score: 6

Blue is The Prime Factors
XGID=----abE-B---aD--cc-c-bAB-A:0:0:1:55:6:10:1:11:10
Blue to play 55

After deciding not to make the 1pt, there were two candidate plays that got my attention. Both of them enter and bring a spare down to the 8pt.

  • S (Split) = bar/20, 23/18(2), 13/8
  • B (Both) = bar/10, 13/8
Given these options, I think the best way to play this position is as a holding game in which we are down by 20 pips, and our opponent has lost outfield control. If we stay back on the 23pt, then our game looks very bad once the Dilly Builders fill in their 5pt or 7pt.

There is a third play, R (Run) = bar/15, 23/18(2), but I would rather take this opportunity to reinforce the 8pt than give the Dillies a shot in the outfield. I won't like when the Dillies point on our heads, but making their 5pt will be good for them even if we do not have a checker there.

In the outfield, we get fewer return shots after the Dillies hit us than we will have when they are forced to hit loose inside.

S = bar/20, 23/18(2), 13/8
