Dictionaries lists multiple definitions for a reason; meaning depends on context. If you use a word in a context where most others would understand definition 1c while you intend definition 3d, then you risk being misunderstood by those who don't share your idiosyncratic choice.

Well, I've since clarified it. I consider cheating to be a willful violation of the rules, not necessarily with malicious intent. As Stick points out, if you look in the dictionary (I just did), my definition surely is in there (it is), so I don't think I'm being so unreasonable. It's not as if I'm using some archaic Old Norse definition of the word.
