At dictionary.com, among the definitions of cheat, there is this:

5. to violate rules or regulations

The rules of backgammon state that a single hand must be used for moving the checkers and that the same hand used to move the checkers is used to operate the clock.

Would you say that a person who viewed the video of Ed's semifinal match with Mitrelis would be inflammatory in stating "Ed violates the rules and regulations of backgammon"?

I think Jason makes the context of his word usage clear when he explicitly states that he does not equate cheating with malice.

I do not wish to detract from Ed's excellent results in Copenhagen- they are commendable! But I don't think Jason has said anything inflammatory.
