Position 2 (the opponent owns the cube) seems to be easier to me, since it is a classical pay now or pay later situation. The cube is already shipped, therefore, the pay now play looks appropriate: 13/8 13/9.
In Position 1 I'm at sixes and sevens due to the cube position. Because of the lead in the pip count and the opponent's weak home, 13/8 13/9 might be the correct play as well. White will improve her home rather quickly, thus the pay now play might be reasonable.
