I did watch the entire match. The other few instances of Mitrelis correcting an illegal Ed move, which he should have never done in the first place, were done in full view of Ed with Ed's recognition and acknowledgement.

In the disputed circumstance, Ed didn't see it. Thus he didn't acknowledge it.

I don't think Mitrelis tried to pull anything or meant anything malicious, he simply made a mistake. Though he also well knew Ed had many other options with the 6 which would have accomplished the same thing he did with the illegal place -- in the sense of the diversification of checkers. So, Mitrelis did correct the illegal play with the worst available six play.

Again, the best practice is never, ever move the opponent's checkers.
