Reverse Polish calculators are super when you have to do a long series of number-crunches, especially if parentheses are involved. This happens a lot in in engineering, and also in figuring out your taxes >> I keep my formerly vintage, now considered antique HP-15C in a climate-controlled safe at a remote location (not really, but I should.)
Backgammon doesn't usually require that kind of complexity, which is kind of nice. Most of us can add and subtract in our heads, if we really, really have to. And back to the subject of this thread, I'm fine with keeping OtB match equity calculations slightly harder for us players, in return for making understanding the score much easier and less nerdy for the spectators.
