The way Vegas works is that if you win your first match Friday afternoon you qualify for the Main bracket. If you lose this match, you can buy back for a reduced price and try again. Typically you can buy back as much as you'd like until the dinner break starts.

So if you don't see peoples' names in the Main bracket but know they were playing, the reason would be that they failed to win a match to qualify.
