Here is my thinking. I have not yet reviewed the choices of others, so these errors are completely of my own making! I have probably been influenced a bit by all the QF.

Blue should stay back to maximize contact. I would not touch the rearmost three checkers.

Blue should respect the five-point board owned by opponent White. I would not slot the 4pt. Sooner or later, of course, Blue probably needs his 4pt, so slotting may not be too bad. Using the last spare from the 6pt, however, for the slot, does not seem right to me.

So that does not leave a lot of choices. 8/3 5/3 keeps all the spares in front of White's blot, so that is the play I would try.

Alternatives include 8/1 and 8/3 6/4.
