You cant blame Akiko or anyone for taking a very long time to make moves when there is no clock. If your goal is to win and you are allowed unlimited time to make moves, it would be foolish to make a move before you are sure.

And that is a major reason why clocks should be mandatory.

Now, many people argue they should not be mandatory for intermediates, and for all of the same reasons, they should be mandatory there as well.

For novices, no clocks but still some monitoring to keep it moving and enjoyabke for all.
