BMS (US) RANKING TOURNAMENT #2: GLENVIEW, IL, USA, 24 APRIL 2016 TOURNAMENT PR & GRADINGS REPORT
I am pleased to report that the second BMAB ranking tournament has been completed very successfully under the excellent direction of Linda Rockwell and Dmitriy Obukhov. Sixteen players participated including 9 players from the first American BMAB tournament in December, plus Rory Pascar and Marty Storer who both have excellent BMAB titles (Master (Class 1) and Grandmaster (Class 2) respectively, together with five accomplished backgammon players from the mid-west new to BMAB. The individual PR scores for each player are shown in the attached table. The most notable performances were as follows:
1st Neil Kazaross (3.36)
2nd John O'Hagan (3.71)
3rd Marty Storer (4.87)
4th Rory Pascar (4.98)
Accordingly, as in the previous America BMAB tournament, Neil and John achieved the best and second best tournament PRs respectively. John, with 72 experience points and an overall aggregate PR of 3.68 achieves the award of Master (Class 1) together with a provisional grading of Grandmaster (Class 3), which is his anticipated level when the threshold of 100 experience points is reached. Clearly, John also has excellent chances of reaching the grading of Grandmaster (Class 2) when he reaches the threshold level of 150 experience points. Craig Anderson and Schlomo Karbal both reached proficiency levels of Advanced (Class 1) through strong aggregate performances, taking them close to master level performance. Congratulations to Neil, John, Craig, Schlomo, and also to all the participants, transcribers, analysts and organisers for making the second BMAB tournament a great success.
Elsewhere on the American Backgammon Circuit, Roberto Litzenberger has been awarded the title of Master (Class 3), for his excellent performances in both streamed and pre-notified individual match recordings (aggregate PR of 5.86). Congratulations Roberto!
