Theoretically, yes, they do. This is how they are calculated. The cost in equity is directly computed in terms of the overall equity of the position after x-ply plays.

To answer your direct follow up - instead of considering the team's cube actions to you as 5 individuals, act as if its a single person, just with a multiplication factor added in. When you start chopping, you are losing equity. Don't give away freebies with the cube.

Remember, that the one skilled opponent you are considering dropping may not always be able to convince the team that his play is right..and you will gain on every single occasion that player cannot convince the team - especially in controversial positions.
