I'm surprised by all the responses so far. While I agree that making the 5pt is a little blotty and diversifies the opp's numbers fairly well and that is a real concern it is not, to me, overwhelming evidence to push making the 5pt out of the question. I have no clue really which play is correct which means making the 5pt is mandatory. I feel like that concept has been preached for years on the forums and this is a perfect example in my opinion.

The idea is that unless another play is screaming at you to be made, you should make the 5pt. It's not always so clear what's screaming and what is simply raising its voice. When you make the 5pt in these instances you usually risk making a very small error at worst. When you make the other play and try to be a genius, you end up making some hefty errors/blunders and at a far greater rate because the 5pt is way more often correct than Play B.
