wheras in LS an 0-3 finish and 2-3 finish are treated identically
Not necessarily, Bob. The KenBar (my internal, unofficial, disapproved nickname for Larsen/Silliman) system now gives points for those who finish in rounds such that up to but not exceeding half the field gets points. Depending on how byes shake out and where the wins came, a player going 2-3 could get some points.
In your typical three-losses and you're out tournament, the players cashing in the Main and Consolation and Last Chance of course get their points, and then in the Last Chance rounds the players who get to rounds that meet the "less-than or equal to half the field criteria" get some points.
In a SWISS format, of course the players cashing get the points, and then all players' W-L record is tabulated, at which point again, those who have records that are as good as but not exceeding half the field will get some points.
The same amount of points is given out as ABT points are given out...we're just stealing points from the rich and giving to the poor. (Bernie Sanders and Carter would love this system).
