Well, if you don't want to talk in his time (not a bad concept that) you might consider gesticulating, pointing at the clock. If even that's too much, how about body language, like facial expressions: looking quizzically, alternately between him and the clock?

If you object to all of that, sitting respectfully whilst it's still his turn - or he's just not paying attention to you (deep in thought still about his play?) - I suppose, if he does time out this way, you might still win with a clear conscience!
