If you get hit right away you give him about an extra 6% by having one fewer checker off. That swings about 2% of the games.

If you let him stay there is a swing that he can get an extra chance to hit. But this requires him not getting a 2, 6 or 55, then you not getting good doubles or a 1, then him hitting, then winning against a single checker. If he had a good closed board that would be about 8% and the chance of getting to it is definitely less than 1/4.

Ripping two seems clear. The immediate swing is more important.
