The Open was won by Chris Knapp who had to battle back from being down 4-8 to Nick Basier in the 9 point final.
The Intermediate was won by Michael Valliere, and the Novice by Brad LaPratt.
John O'Hagan beat Michi in the finals of the Markowitz Masters.
I won't have a Stick type write up of the event, but I just want to say a few things. This was a Swiss format for both the Open and Intermediate divisions, and I absolutely love the format. It's great knowing when your matches are going to start. And, I like having 4 losses before you're eliminated. Another thing this tournament does that makes everything run smoothly and is very convenient, is breakfast, lunch, and dinner is included for $60, with snacks and drinks available all day. You don't have to eat there, but it's so damn convenient.
This is the first year Rory ran the Swiss format all by himself, and he did a great job. The whole staff was awesome the entire weekend. I noticed that Rory had a lot of extra work to do running the Swiss format rather than just having brackets. He also had a lot of extra work to do supplying the food and maintaining the break room, but he did an excellent job...he even jumped in there and was cutting up the chicken for dinner on Sunday night! I was blown away by how much passion Rory has for making sure he puts on a first class event. I will definitely be back.
